We’d like to thank film historians, Steve Massa of N.Y., Bruce Lawton of Princeton, N.J. and Steve Rydzewski (Slapstick! Magazine) of Philadelphia, Pa. for their valuable input and encouragement in putting images of these great silent clowns on our soaps! Also, special thanks to Gary Dartnell of Douris Corporation
and the good folks at Bliss House for permission to use the image of our beloved Buster Keaton.

Special thanks to Jimmy Finlayson’s niece, Jeanne Hanson of Charlestown, NH
for permission to use her uncle’s image.
If you happened to be in a coffee house in Philadelphia known as The Second Fret in the late 1960’s, chances are the entertainment included silent movies flashing on the walls in addition to the music from local bands. It was a favorite stop for me & my fellow musician-friends. They showed mostly Chaplin films and while I loved their quaintness (I love ALL things from that era!) they really didn’t move me much.

Fast-forward to the 1990’s…suddenly we own a vast collection of silent films, especially comedies since I love to laugh! Since we never watch television & haven’t for many years these films provided wonderful entertainment. But of all the silent comedians whose films we enjoy Buster Keaton was the one that drew my attention. What struck me most about him was his beautiful, motionless face and the very physical nature of his comedy. Buster was more than unique - he was a master of his art.

Those eyes spoke volumes about all he saw & felt without him ever uttering a sound. As a stunt man, there has never been anyone to compare to the “little iron man.” ™ Too long forgotten & underappreciated, the films of the great silent clowns and the actors themselves are finally gaining attention from a new generation of laugh seekers. I’ve always known I was born in the wrong era, but since I can’t go back in time to tell Buster what a genius I think he was, I wanted to help generate interest in him, his films & the talented masters of the sight gag who’ve kept the world laughing for decades. To this end I created the Silent Soaps™ line & proudly placed Buster’s image on our best selling soap. Upscale shops and retail customers who love nostalgia as much as I do will appreciate the beautiful vintage sepia photos & the quality of the soap inside. It’s my way of saying “thanks” to Buster & his friends for bringing laughter, romance, and the innocent charm of a bygone age into my life....
